I knew that it has been coming for a long time now, but I just thought it would have come on a little more gradual. Not full blow insanity in a matter of minutes.
It all started last summer. My friend Jodi tried to convince me to run with her in a best friend’s half marathon. Back then I was still sane enough to laugh at her and tell her she could forget it. Yesterday morning I was checking my e-mails. I received an e-mail from Jodi and there was the notice that the registration for the Best Friends half Marathon was coming up. I’m not sure what happened, but at that moment I blacked out. Before I knew I had responded “Let’s do it” and had hit the send key.
After regaining my wits about me I spent a moment or two hyperventilating and then decided that this was going to be great. I am sometimes the kind of person who needs to be motivated to accomplish something. I have been wanting to start running again and there is nothing like a pending ½ marathon in your future to motivate a girl to get moving.
So I need all of your help. I figure if I tell everyone that I am going to do this, I will be even that much more motivated to accomplish this.
Wish me luck!!!!! Oh and if you see me lying on the side of the road-call 911.

The Poop Scoop!!!!!
Well here it is. Ryno had his Dr. Apt. in Portland yesterday about his shoulder and he got a bunch of good news. The Doc told him that he could play golf this spring for sure with no problems. He also told him that he could play basketball the rest of the season if he wanted to. (We all know what his decision was on that one.) He continues to run the risk of it popping out again, but the damage has been done. Apparently with a little physical therapy he could be as good as new. If he wants to later have surgery on it he can, but he is looking at a 6 month recovery period. A 6 months recovery period at this point in Ryno’s life is completely unacceptable. So tonight Ryno is on his way to Maupin to play in his first game back. Keep your fingers crossed!!! Tomorrow I will go to Echo to watch and report back to you.

A Weekend of Basketball
This was a big weekend for basketball. It all started Friday night in Echo against Dufer (it always makes me giggle when I say Dufer). Echo went into the game a little nervous because they knew that Dufer was going to be one of the three hardest schools they would play during the regular season.
Ryno had plans of his own however. After the game Friday night he and his dad got on line and researched possible braces that might allow him to play with more protection to that shoulder. After hours of research they were able to locate a brace in The Dalles that happened to be on the way to the game. The bus topped and they picked it up. To make this very long story shorter Ryno got his brace and played in the game. He only had 8 points, but was excited to get to play at all. Echo lost the game that night, but only lost by 6. We will probably see that team again in the play-offs.

Go Ryno!!!
The football season is over, but the awards are still coming in. Ryan had his fall awards banquet and received some very cool awards. He received 2 awards from the Big Sky Conference. He was named to the all conference team on both offence and defense (Very Cool). Ryno was also named to the East Oregonian news papers All Star Team as a receiver. The Local news paper looks at all the players in the surrounding schools including Hermiston, Pendleton, Umatilla, Stanfield and others. They then name one player to each position based on stats. Ryno was the only player named from a single A school(Again Very,Very Cool).
